Zuckerberg Wants Blood

Zuckerberg Wants Blood: Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is tougher than he looks. As if The Social Network didn’t make him out to be bloodthirsty enought, Zuck has revealed he is only eating meat he kills himself and recently posted on Facebook that he killed a goat and a pig. It’s part of an annual personal challenge — last year’s was a much more benign attempt to learn Chinese — in order to further personal growth. The Winkelvii are probably nodding their heads at word of how Zuck offed a goat: he slit its throat. Hard core. NYT

More FB Competition: The latest new social network claiming to be a Facebook competitor comes from former MySpace Music CTO Dmitry Shapiro. His new social network is called Altly. Shapiro wants to make Altly a more transparent social network that does not track the movement of its users the way Facebook does. As of now there is only a basic prototype site that investors have seen.  Shapiro explains his reasons for wanting to create Altly on the Altly blog—it’s clear he’s not a Zuckerber fan. Anyway, we’ll have to wait and see if Altly actually takes off, but for now Facebook remains on top, for better or for worse. Business Insider

What Would Joyce Tweet?: A man named “Stephen from Baltimore” has started a project called Ulysses Meets Twitter 2011, which asks Joyce fans to help translate Ulysses into tweetable 140-character pieces. If you want to participate, you need to choose a section, or several, from the 18 episodes in the novel, and write a series of 4-6 tweets to represent that section. More info about how to participate is available at 11ysses.wordpress.com.
