The Feed: Mac Users Really Are Hipsters

Mac vs. PC: CNN published findings from an unscientific survey last Friday about Mac and PC users that seem to confirm the stereotypes about each user (i.e. Mac users are younger and hipper than older, straight-edge PC users). For example, the survey found that, “Mac loyalists are 80% more likely than PC users to be vegetarians, and, unlike PC fans, would rather ride a Vespa scooter than a Harley,” and “Mac users prefer designer or vintage duds, hummus, red wine, indie films, The New York Times and San Pellegrino Limonata.” Wow, Mac users sound like real assholes. (I am a Mac user). The article generated tons of buzz (read heated arguments and name-calling); but CNN has followed up by collecting some of the “most thoughtful” comments from the over 5,000 comments the article received. Join in on the mudslinging, what are you? Team Mac or Team PC? CNN

Semi-Private Sharing: There’s little doubt Facebook is trying to redefine notions around privacy, sometimes in ways that are creepy. But it might be onto something with its new “send” button. It’s rolling the button to websites like Orbitz as an easy way to share a travel deal or piece of content with Facebook Groups. Here’s hoping people will use the “send” rather than mindlessly liking things. Facebook blog
