How creators use automation tools to deliver authentic, monetizable content

Creators — and the brands they work with — are navigating a complex landscape. Social media platforms are flooded with content and creators, while constant tweaks to their algorithms can dramatically impact reach and engagement.
These challenges make it increasingly difficult for creators to monetize their content, particularly those who rely on sharing affiliate links. This also creates a ripple effect for brands, as they deal with unpredictable reach and ROI regarding their creator marketing efforts.
“With the sheer volume of content that’s on social media right now, it’s critical for creators to stand out. And the most successful creators are standing out through strong authenticity,” said Ashley Allen, vp of product management at Collective Voice. “Creators building long-term engagement and fostering those relationships with their followers create that deepening connection that will, in turn, produce results for brands.
“Having that authenticity is a way for brands to ultimately drive more sales on social media.”
Turning social conversations into sales
To stand out in this crowded and challenging social commerce environment, creators work to post consistently and engage with followers across several platforms, including Instagram. However, creators have to balance scaling the reach of their posts and commissionable links with personalized, authentic community engagement.
“When brands partner with creators, regardless of audience size, it’s important for them to think about both relatability and authenticity. Trust is a key driver for that credibility, because it’s driving those conversion rates and boosting longer-lasting consumer partnerships,” Allen said. “The magic of affiliate marketing happens when creators of all sizes are able to drive sales for brands.”
As Allen explained, creators share affiliate links with their followers in several ways, including link-in-bio solutions, swipe-up Instagram Stories or text callouts. For instance, many creators manually reply to relevant Instagram comments or direct messages with affiliate product links as a strategy to maximize their earnings. While this practice can turn a follower into an engaged shopper, it is also time-consuming for creators.
“The social media landscape is constantly changing, and brands and creators need trusted partners to provide innovative tools that keep up with this,” Allen said. “When brands show up in these social commerce environments, they need their products to stand out, and a creator’s ability to curate that experience is vital for both the success of the brand and the creator.”
Now, more creator marketing tools are emerging that allow them to automate these actions, driving increased revenue for creators and brands.
Creators are leveraging automated tools to efficiently maximize earnings
Automated DM tools allow creators to engage followers, manage conversations and even drive sales on Instagram. By delivering automated links at scale, creators save time previously spent manually sending individual links to products in their posts.
For instance, Collective Voice’s Shop The Look is an automated Instagram DM tool that is triggered by post comments to instantly share creators’ links from shoppable photos and videos directly in interested followers’ inboxes.
“Brands are hyper-focused on their digital conversion experience, streamlining that experience and building relationships to drive sales,” Allen said. “Shop The Look is the creator equivalent of that. It removes all the friction from the social commerce shopping experience.”
According to Collective Voice network performance data, creators who use Shop The Look have a 33% higher average order value and experience a 21% lift in conversion rate.
“It enhances that visual storytelling and creates a more streamlined shopping experience, which gets the followers to those product pages in a very engaging way,” Allen said.
How creator tools balance automation with authenticity
While automated engagement tools allow creators to scale their audience engagement and monetization efforts, creators have to be mindful of maintaining their authenticity.
According to a new study published in the Journal of Marketing, the emotional bond between creators and their respective audiences is fostered through genuine interactions. The study also showed that AI has the potential to strengthen a creator’s trust and credibility among followers, rather than eroding authenticity.
AI-based features can help creators work efficiently while creating authentic content for their audiences. For example, creators can assign a custom trigger word to each shoppable photo or video they create on the Collective Voice platform. The custom trigger word can reflect a creator’s specific niche, enhancing audience engagement and making the content more relevant.
“The number one objective creators have is driving deeper connections and building their followers, and the second is monetizing that connection. So what’s better than getting a personalized message from your creator directly into your DMs?” Allen said. “It feels really personal and genuine, and it makes it feel like you’re talking to a friend. We’re committed to fostering those deeper relationships, and that’s why we continue to evolve Shop The Look to boost that authenticity.”
Beyond driving better performance, the evolution of Shop The Look has changed how creators approach their content and engagement.
“What I love most about Collective Voice’s new Shop the Look upgrades is that I can finally relax about engagement — everything is more intuitive and every moment of connection with my audience stays in my voice,” said Chanel Tyler, creator-in-residence at Collective Voice. “Plus, my links work harder than ever. It’s like having 24/7 support for both me and my followers. Honestly, it’s like my content got a whole upgrade.”
Upcoming features include Smart Replies, which allow creators to set up automatic replies to post comments that trigger automated DMs. This demonstrates a creator’s more thoughtful and active presence while maintaining a conversational shopping experience. Shop The Look’s AI Assist feature will use a creator’s previously published captions to learn their unique voice and generate tailored automated comment and caption suggestions.
“We’re focusing on empowering all creators with these automated tools to maximize their efficiency, so they can focus more time on creativity and amplify their impact without all the manual heavy lifting,” Allen said. “It’s all about that efficiency and authenticity driving results for creators and brands.”
