Infographic: Why Mobile App Discovery Is Still a Problem

It might seem like applications have been around forever, but it’s only been a couple years since Apple rolled out the App Store. A Mobile Posse survey found most people use music apps, followed by games, social, business/productivity and discount. Perhaps more interesting, the poll found pretty rudimentary discovery methods, with far more users finding out about apps on their mobile phone home screens rather than than in an app store. The survey is based on 100,000 responses. Conclusion: for all the talk of the marketing might of app stores, they don’t appear to be that effective for consumers.
