Digiday Media names David Amrani CEO

Digiday Media, the global media company behind Digiday, Glossy, Modern Retail and WorkLife, today announced the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Nick Friese, who has served as Digiday’s CEO since founding the company in 2008, has named David Amrani his successor as he transitions into a new role as chairman. Amrani previously served as Digiday’s Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Since its inception, Digiday has focused on equipping modern professionals withknowledge, tools and resources for navigating the shift to a digital-first landscape. As this landscape evolves with increasing dependencies on AI and other technology-enabled efficiencies, Digiday is addressing heightened demand for digital intelligence across the industries it serves. The company is currently on track for its strongest year yet.

“From the rise of smartphones to social media proliferation, cloud migration, and a global pandemic that reshaped the way we live and work, Digiday has guided our audiences through the digital transformation of the past 15 years,” said Friese. “With David as CEO of our executive team, we’re now geared up for continued expansion as we usher in the next era of digital business.”

Throughout his 10-year tenure, Amrani has played a critical role in Digiday’s business growth, including the development of its custom content, advertising and event sponsorship services. Working alongside Friese, he planned and implemented the initial model of Digiday’s membership and subscription-based offerings, and more recently, built the company’s member-exclusive research team. Amrani’s time at the company has additionally seen the launch of three editorial brands as Digiday Media expanded its initial concentration on media and marketing into retail, fashion, beauty and human resources.

As CEO, Amrani will lead Digiday’s leadership team with a mandate to drive growth across all of the company’s business divisions. Building on Digiday’s existing suite of products and resources, Amrani and the executive team will additionally focus on expanding engagement with new and existing audiences across all digital touchpoints.

“The current digital landscape is creating a unique opportunity to steer the trajectory of a company that’s already been successful in reimagining the way we disseminate and consume media,” said David Amrani, CEO, Digiday. “I’ve had the benefit of being a part of this journey for a decade now, and look forward to scaling our work while staying true to the independent spirit that’s gotten Digiday to where it is today.”

Friese will stay intimately involved with Digiday in his new capacity as founder and chairman. With Amrani overseeing the company’s day-to-day business and operations, Friese will focus on the continued growth and innovation of Digiday’s partnerships, acquisitions, investments and further extensions of its core brands.

Digiday’s commitment to authentic, high-quality journalism remains at the heart of its mission and will continue to serve as the foundation for the company’s next phase of growth.
