Facebook’s billion users, Instagram, the McWhopper: What was in and what was out this week

Here’s what’s in and what’s out for the week ending August 28.

This week, the Internet fumed over a “disgusting” Caitlyn Jenner costume that online retailers are standing by, McDonald’s publicly rejected Burger King’s offer on Facebook to make a “McWhopper,” Instagram had its most useful update yet and Snapchat added more publishers to its Discover feature while dismissing no one.

Oh, and 1 billion people used Facebook on Monday, Facebook proudly announced, opening the gates to a barrage of ridicule that 1 billion users isn’t actually that cool.
