Cast your vote in Digiday’s Top Boss Award, honoring the best agency managers

If there is indeed a talent crunch in the advertising industry, no one feels that more acutely than the people running the agencies. Fortunately for them, there are a few easy fixes.
According to a March 2016 study on agency turnover conducted by the 4A’s and LinkedIn, one of the most common reasons employees leave is because they don’t find their work challenging. Agency management would do well to take an active role in employee development.
Luckily, there are a few who already do.
To honor the agency bosses making a difference in their employees’ lives, Digiday has nominated five managers for the Top Boss Award, Digiday’s first award to honor individuals themselves — as opposed to their work. As part of the nomination process, every agency was asked to create a short video about why their boss deserves the award. Watch the submissions below and vote for the boss you believe deserves to win by September 23, 2016.
The boss with the highest number of votes will be declared a Top Boss properly lauded by Digiday.
Carrie Kerpen, CEO, Likeable Media
“Carrie’s helped shape my career because she saw potential [in me], helped me carve my own path and never let me settle.”
Jamie Rubin, svp, group media director, Campbell Ewald
“One of Jamie’s qualities is his ability to foster growth amongst younger employees […] it’s somewhat of a transient industry, so it speaks a lot to his leadership and his character that many of his younger employees are still around.”
Tyler Helms, executive vp, Deutsch Inc.
“Tyler champions the work, he champions his people, he champions the clients’ businesses […] it makes such a huge impact here.”
Mike Margolin, svp, director of audience strategy, RPA
“Mike has this incredible gift for situational leadership, so he knows when he needs to be the one to drive the conversation forward. He also knows when to step back and let the team do what they do best.”
Jim Cridlin, managing director, digital strategy, Mindshare
“When you work with him [Jim], you know that he cares not just about the people, but about the product.”
