Publishers warily embrace Google’s new fast article format

Google was set to announce a plan Oct. 7 to speed up the Web, and big-name publishers from The Washington Post to Mail Online are throwing their support behind it. Publishers are eager to cut their load time to keep mobile readers, even if it means increasing their dependence on distribution partners. “Any latency if you’re a consumer on a mobile Web page is problematic,” The Atlantic Digital’s Kimberly Lau said.
