Account Executive

DataXu is looking for driven, focused and high impact Account Executives to join our growing revenue team. In this position, the Account Executive will be responsible for driving new business and for overall satisfaction of clients.


  • Develop strategic plan to achieve revenue goals; hit or exceed these revenue goals
  • Develop and maintain strong active relationships with key client stakeholders at both senior and mid-management levels
  • Understand agency, advertiser, data and vendor landscapes and trends, reporting these to the organization; who are the major players, how do they buy, from whom; what are the macro and micro forces that shift tactical budgets and strategic direction?
  • Understand and effectively communicate DataXu’s value proposition, technology, processes, partnerships as relate to growth of current and prospective client accounts
  • Ideally has an in-depth knowledge of the industry and of the biddable media marketplace —past, present, and future
  • Plans, directs and coordinates sales activities, including management of the sales pipeline, for a defined territory
  • Leverages external relationships and personal network to generate sales leads for territory
  • Regularly involved in all phases of the sales lifecycle including:  identifying and developing leads; meeting with clients; developing value propositions; financial deal structuring; to contract negotiation and closing
  • Oversees and reviews technical solutions to verify the solutions meet and address the specific needs of the client
  • Ensures all targeted prospect/client contacts and engagement opportunities are recorded in Salesforce.com
  • Advises pursuit team in crafting and positioning deals and closing.  Shares industry, deal, and sales “best practice” knowledge with sales community
  • Responsible for managing demand and quickly “qualifying” opportunities.
    Builds a reputation for success and sets an example that all sales professionals should emulate
  • Proven sales skills in complex deal development, financial structuring, negotiations and closing new and existing clients
  • Interacts with other members of the industry or country leadership team to define and execute sales strategies and tactics to increase new revenue
  • Establishes an executable strategy for specific pipeline development that supports the sales objectives
  • Has responsibility and is accountable for Win/Loss reviews on new accounts


  • Bachelor’s Degree. MBA a plus
  • 5 + years experience in online/digital/display advertising in outbound sales (preferably ad serving, data, exchanges, SaaS or SEM). Experience in other SaaS models with knowledge of digital advertising business may be acceptable
  • Knowledge of the online media business and underlying technology and research – Lumascape
  • Excellent sales skills including the ability to create and build relationships. Demonstrated track record of success and established relationships
  • Strong analytical and consultative skills
  • Effective time management skills – ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Diligent work ethic. Must be self-motivated and able to take the initiative to get the job done. Ability to work in a remote office
  • Excellent listening, negotiation, presentation, written and verbal communication skills
